Cathecism / CCD
Parents, enriched by the gift of their children from a loving Creator, are in turn obligated to nourish their children’s participation in Gods life. Baptism is only the beginning of a life-long journey of faith that must be based on a deep appreciation of the truths and duties of our faith. A CCD program such as the on in our parish, which involves the whole family, is a particularly effective method of catechesis for young children. It helps parents to become more confident in sharing their faith with their children and encouraging their children’s emerging faith.
The Church encourages parents to ensure that school-aged children receive formal and systematic catechesis in a parish-based program like the one at St. Agnes, in which the content of the faith and the experience of Christian life is presented authentically and completely. Having introduced them to the person of Jesus Christ within the family, our CCD program presents His teachings, His Ministry, and the major events of His life. The most important task of the catechesis of children is to provide, through the witness of adults, an environment in which young people can grow in faith.
We encourage parents to send their children to Catechism from PreK to 8th grade. Children should attend once a week and we offer the following schedule:
|Sundays||11:00 am - 12:30 pm||Pk - 8|
|Tuesdays||4:30 pm - 6:00 pm||Pk - 8|
|Wednesdays||4:30 pm - 6:00 pm||Pk - 8|
The Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation require a minimum of two years of preparation. Usually the Sacraments are received during 3rd grade and 8th grade. We also have special classes for older children and young adults under 18 years of age who did not receive sacraments at the typical age.
